My dad tells me that this post title is the default that comes with all wordpress installations (the system I’m using for my blog). I however feel this is the perfect title for my first post.
Today I am one week old. It has been an amazing week. My mom, dad, and I have spent the last seven days together and it has been great. I wake them up every couple of hours during the night, but they really don’t mind at all. They tell me how much they love me and how beautiful I am every time. I get my diaper changed and get to eat a little bit before a quick snuggle, which they refer to as burping, before I get swaddled back up and laid back down to sleep.
In the morning we get up and after a new diaper and a little breakfast for me I get changed into a cute little outfit for the day. We typically spend the days napping and snacking with a few interruptions of looking around at the ceiling of our house. It seems like that is the view I’m given most often as I’m being held and snuggled.
The one thing I hear most often is how long my eyelashes are. This is second to the amount of hair I have. Dad keeps telling me how jealous he is, and that he thinks I have more hair than he does. I’m not sure about that, but I do feel like it won’t be long before my first trip to Dream Weavers.
Yesterday I got to take my first trip to Target. I was pretty much amazing as usual. It took my parents all most forever to get ready to go. This was in part because of the snow storm that had crippled the area. Dad and grandma took the Escape out to drive Raps Road to see if it was something Mom and Dad even wanted to try with me in the car. Turns out there was a lot of snow on the little road which hadn’t been plowed yet. Dad said they drove out to Hwy 24 and were on their way back when another truck ran them off the road into the ditch. The guy didn’t even stop to help. So he and Grandma had to walk back to the house. After dad and Grandpa got the escape pulled out of the ditch, dad grabbed a shower while mom got my diaper bag all packed up.
We headed towards Virginia. After all the pre trip obstacles I was ready to eat again so we made it as far as Cook and stopped off at Auntie Aprils house for a quick second breakfast. I got to see Sawyer and April. Laurin was down for a nap, and Uncle Jesse was at work. After I was done eating we headed for Virginia. I was pretty tired after my big day of eating and sleeping all morning so I decided to sleep all the way to Virginia. We stopped by Dads work quickly so I could meet Cousin Spencer. We visited with him for a little bit at which point I felt the need to load my pants. We quickly drove over to Target where I got a new diaper and then it was time for some shopping. I didn’t feel like getting strapped back in my car seat, so dad just carried me all snuggled up in his arms. Even though I slept the entire time I was a pretty big hit. You wouldn’t believe how many people came up to meet me. Apparently new babies are all the rage these days. Once Mom and Dad got all their shopping done and had checked out they put me back in my car seat to leave. I figured once we got back in the car and all the groceries were put away it would be a good time to wake up and have some lunch. Mom was nice enough to oblige and I got a nice full tummy for the car ride home. I of course didn’t want to waste any energy so I decided to sleep all the way back home.
If you can catch a theme here. I have decided at this point to be a pretty great baby. I don’t get too excited over things and pretty much enjoy smiling in my sleep, eating like a hobbit, and pooping like Grandpa Jimbo on a camping trip.
