Rub A Dub Dub

I love Saturdays!  So now that my dad has to go back to this work thing I keep hearing adults talk about, I don’t get to see him as often as I used to.  It was so nice to wake up for my first of many breakfasts this morning to find dad still home with us.  We all got some great snuggle time in before venturing out into the living room.  The sun was shining in through the windows which I love to look at.  In fact, my dad turned my swing around so I could look out the window while I was swaying back and forth.

I heard the bath tub running soon saw dad bring my baby tub out into the living room full of nice warm water.  I stripped down for a dip in the pool.  Dad and mom did a nice job of getting me all cleaned up.  The water was so nice and warm it was nice and relaxing getting pampered with a nice scrub down in the tub.  After I was all cleaned up I hopped out of the tub in to a nice warm towel.  I snuggled in and got all dried off.  Dad got my hair dried and attempted to run a comb through my luscious locks.  It was a bit unruly so he did his best and figured just getting it all dried off was a win for the day.  With a fresh diaper, a onesie, and a nice pink poke a dot footie pajamas it was a great way to start off the day.

My First Check-Up

I can’t believe it has already been nine days since I joined you all in this exciting world.  I was supposed to come in for this checkup on Friday, but we had a big snow storm that dumped over 10 inches of snow in our neck of the woods.  Turns out my mom and dad were all fired up to drive to the appointment, but my doctor wasn’t able to make it so we were rescheduled for today.

In preparation for this little check-up I have been doing a lot of sleeping, and plenty of eating.  This pretty much consumes the majority of my days.  I also have a nice brand new belly button to show off.  I was able to get rid of my little umbilical cord a couple days ago which came off without a hitch.

I wanted to be rested up for the checkup, so I slept all the way to Virginia.  We got checked right in upon our arrival and were escorted into the exam room.  I was going to be weighted, so I stripped down and put on a fresh diaper.  We went in and I got measured.  Not sure how this works, but I apparently grew 1/2 an inch this past week.  I dont’ know if I just stretched out for this measurement, or if I was too squirmy when I was measured right after being born.  Either way I am now 19 inches long.  Then it was over to the scale.  At this point I’m still okay with you all knowing how much I weigh. Let me tell you I have been doing a great job eating.  I was able to put on over a pound in the last week.  When I left the Hospital on Tuesday I weighed 6 lbs 6 oz.  At the weigh in today I came in at a healthy 7 lbs 8 oz.

After the weight and measurement we were back to the exam room.  It wasn’t long and we met with a pediatrician who looked me over.  She said everything checked out great.  She put a cold stethoscope on my nice warm skin.  She also gave me a good head to toe inspection.  I am happy to say I was given a clean bill of health.

Hello world!

My dad tells me that this post title is the default that comes with all wordpress installations (the system I’m using for my blog).  I however feel this is the perfect title for my first post.

Today I am one week old.  It has been an amazing week.  My mom, dad, and I have spent the last seven days together and it has been great.  I wake them up every couple of hours during the night, but they really don’t mind at all.  They tell me how much they love me and how beautiful I am every time.  I get my diaper changed and get to eat a little bit before a quick snuggle, which they refer to as burping, before I get swaddled back up and laid back down to sleep.

In the morning we get up and after a new diaper and a little breakfast for me I get changed into a cute little outfit for the day.  We typically spend the days napping and snacking with a few interruptions of looking around at the ceiling of our house.  It seems like that is the view I’m given most often as I’m being held and snuggled.

The one thing I hear most often is how long my eyelashes are.  This is second to the amount of hair I have.  Dad keeps telling me how jealous he is, and that he thinks I have more hair than he does.  I’m not sure about that, but I do feel like it won’t be long before my first trip to Dream Weavers.

Yesterday I got to take my first trip to Target.  I was pretty much amazing as usual.  It took my parents all most forever to get ready to go.  This was in part because of the snow storm that had crippled the area.  Dad and grandma took the Escape out to drive Raps Road to see if it was something Mom and Dad even wanted to try with me in the car.  Turns out there was a lot of snow on the little road which hadn’t been plowed yet.  Dad said they drove out to Hwy 24 and were on their way back when another truck ran them off the road into the ditch.  The guy didn’t even stop to help.  So he and Grandma had to walk back to the house.  After dad and Grandpa got the escape pulled out of the ditch, dad grabbed a shower while mom got my diaper bag all packed up.

We headed towards Virginia.  After all the pre trip obstacles I was ready to eat again so we made it as far as Cook and stopped off at Auntie Aprils house for a quick second breakfast.  I got to see Sawyer and April.  Laurin was down for a nap, and Uncle Jesse was at work.  After I was done eating we headed for Virginia.  I was pretty tired after my big day of eating and sleeping all morning so I decided to sleep all the way to Virginia.  We stopped by Dads work quickly  so I could meet Cousin Spencer.  We visited with him for a little bit at which point I felt the need to load my pants.  We quickly drove over to Target where I got a new diaper and then it was time for some shopping.  I didn’t feel like getting strapped back in my car seat, so dad just carried me all snuggled up in his arms.  Even though I slept the entire time I was a pretty big hit.  You wouldn’t believe how many people came up to meet me.  Apparently new babies are all the rage these days.  Once Mom and Dad got all their shopping done and had checked out they put me back in my car seat to leave.  I figured once we got back in the car and all the groceries were put away it would be a good time to wake up and have some lunch.  Mom was nice enough to oblige and I got a nice full tummy for the car ride home.  I of course didn’t want to waste any energy so I decided to sleep all the way back home.

If you can catch a theme here.  I have decided at this point to be a pretty great baby.  I don’t get too excited over things and pretty much enjoy smiling in my sleep, eating like a hobbit, and pooping like Grandpa Jimbo on a camping trip.
